Acadian Remembrance Day
In 2004, December 13 was chosen as the day to honor the Acadians who lost their lives during the Great Upheaval.
December 13 refers to the most tragic episode of the deportation, in which 850 people died. This was the sinking of three ships on December 12, 13, and 16, 1758. These ships were the Violet, the Duke William, and the Ruby, which were carrying Acadians from Île Saint-Jean.
The Acadian Museum of Quebec invites you to take a moment to reflect on the Acadians who died in this tragedy.
