"And in 1948, I arrived in Canada." – The Holocaust in six dates
Exhibition presented from July 1, 2021, to September 19, 2021
The traveling exhibition "And in 1948, I arrived in Canada" – The Holocaust in six dates raises awareness about the genocide of the Jews. While perpetuating the memory, it encourages reflection on the impacts of racism and discrimination in our societies. It also provides an opportunity to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and honor the survivors who made Canada their new home.
In six key dates, discover the steps leading from anti-Semitism to genocide and the impact on our societies. The story of men and women, their courageous attempts to resist, and their resilience.
With 10 objects and 30 minutes of video testimonials from the exceptional collection of the Holocaust Museum in Montreal, the exhibition explores the links between World War II and genocide. It also addresses issues related to Canada's intervention, its inaction toward refugees, and the immigration of Holocaust survivors to the country after the war.
World War II was a time of profound upheaval that could not fail to affect the Acadians.
Approximately 23,000 of them wore the uniform. For us, the presentation of the exhibition "And in 1948, I arrived in Canada" was an opportunity to highlight this involvement.
