BIOGRAPHY: Guillaume Arsenault, singer-songwriter, was born in Gaspésie and has been running a song shop there for over 20 years. He belongs to this land, and his voice matches the grandeur of its landscapes, drawing on the power of the elements.

The father, lover, cabinetmaker, teacher, and artist share the same quiet strength, the same gift for contemplation, the same poetic view of things, and the same desire to reinvent themselves with each project. Far from confusing him, this flow defines him.

A multiple award winner (CALQ Award – Artist of the Year in Gaspésie 2022, Radio-Canada Revelation, Petite-Vallée Song Festival, etc.) and nominee (Canadian Folk Music Award 2021, ADISQ, etc.), Guillaume Arsenault now shares his expertise with emerging artists, drawing on his extensive experience in songwriting. He devotes himself to sound design (Poussières d’étoiles, La nuit du Caribou, Irène sur mars, Le merveilleux voyage de Réal de Montréal, etc.), production (Dans l’shed, Joey Robin-Hachey, Éric-John Keyser, etc.) and training (Chansons rassembleuses/ Nikamu Mamuitun).

He becomes a mature artist, a man with the poise of a sage, both feet planted firmly in truth and the spirit of adventure. He moves forward.

The MARIE CHOUINARD COMPANY on tour

Tuesday, August 6, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on the museum terrace. Free activity.

From July 28 to August 17, the COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD will be traveling along the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie coasts for a tour of free outdoor performances, traveling from village to village in a caravan.

Ten performers, a composer-musician, and a master of ceremonies offer you an outdoor experience in a public space that immerses you in the fundamentals of dance, physical presence, and creation.

The MARIE CHOUINARD COMPANY presents events featuring several new works, moments of pure dance that make sense and reveal dance in a new light, performances—sometimes participatory—that lighten the heart, create the joy of rediscovering the body, and offer the well-being of a renewed sense of community.

An enchantment imbued with kindness and comfort.

THE MARIE CHOUINARD COMPANY ON TOUR will sometimes temporarily expand its troupe to welcome a performer from the locality being visited.

From village to village, the performance program evolves through contact with communities.
