Did you know? Carleton and Bonaventure both had tanneries. Unfortunately, there are no traces of them today. The Carleton tannery was inaugurated by Joseph Cauchon and taken over by the Cullen family. It operated from 1870 to 1970. It is also worth noting that each village had its own array of shoemakers.
