The object bears witness to the life of a person of Acadian origin from Bonaventure. Olive Bernard dit Lacolle (1842-19-?) is believed to be the daughter of [Alexandre?] Bernard and Élizabeth Arsenault. She is also believed to be the sister of Christian.

The portrait is associated with portrait 1980.F.40 A, that of François Xavier Bernard, son of Alexandre and Geneviève Lepage, married to Marie-Anne Bourque on February 3, 1868.
