Acadian Festival in Bonaventure
August 15 to 17, 2024
The Musée acadien du Québec and the City of Bonaventure are pleased to present the program for the Fête de l’Acadie! This year, activities will take place from August 15 to 17. Young and old alike are invited to come and enjoy a variety of free and accessible activities. Don’t miss this annual event to proudly celebrate Acadian culture in the Gaspé Peninsula!
THURSDAY, AUGUST 15
10 a.m. – Acadian Mass at Bonaventure Church
11 a.m. – Traditional dance demonstrations at the church with Dans Cuisine
12 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Guided tour of miniature reproductions of churches with Marcel Arsenault, screening of a short documentary on the history of Bonaventure Church, snacks and surprises for children.
9 p.m. – Screening of the short film: Habiter la terre*(Inhabiting the Earth) on the museum terrace
* This activity is part of theUPA's 100th anniversary celebrations. To mark the occasion, the south facade of the museum will be illuminated and animated with the screening of the short film. Duration of the animation: 18 minutes. The short film will be shown on a loop until 10 p.m.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 16
5 p.m. – Acadian evening at La Belle Aventure Microbrewery with Djaypoire
9 p.m. – Screening of the short film: Habiter la terre*(Inhabiting the Earth) on the museum terrace
* This activity is part of the UPA's 100th anniversary celebrations. For the occasion, the south facade of the Museum will be illuminated and animated with the screening of the short film. Duration of the animation: 18 minutes. The short film will play on a loop until 10 p.m.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 17
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.– Inflatable games
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.– Craft demonstration at Verre et Bulles.
Experienced artisans: Diane Rioux, Jessica Lebrasseur, Huguette Richard, Robert Bilodeau, and Louise Poirier.
11 a.m. – Storytelling and magic show with M’sieur Bujo
2 p.m. – Drumming performance with Stonda
3 p.m. – Drumming performance with Stonda
7 p.m. – Tintamarre – departure from Bonaventure Lighthouse
7:30 p.m . – Acadian music show with Beauxmont. Bar and canteen service available on site.
